Suncor Energy Inc. is a Canadian integrated energy company headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Founded in 1919, Suncor is one of the largest companies in Canada and a major player in the oil and gas industry. The company operates in three main segments: oil sands, exploration and production, and refining and marketing. Suncor is best known for its development of oil sands in Alberta, where it extracts bitumen, a heavy form of crude oil, which is then upgraded to synthetic crude oil.
